The Loy Krathong festival will celebrate all things Thai and honour the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej when it takes overthe banks of the Parramatta Rivernext week.

Festival attendees will be treated to Thai culture, with costume displays, food from Thailand, Nepal and Korea and traditional Thai arts and crafts including a krathong-making workshop. The krathongs will be released down the river as the sun sets, in a beautiful display of light and art.

The festival will also provide an important opportunity for the Thai community to get together to celebrate their king after the 30-day mourning period has passed. Music performances throughout the event will honour the king, who was known for his traditional Thai compositions.

This year’s Loy Krathong festival will take place on Saturday November 12.
