Sydney blues/soul crooner Chich is launching his debut album, I’m Alive, taking us right back to the honey-soaked sounds of Otis Redding and Donny Hathaway.

Fastidiously avoiding the sophistication of recording technology, Chich aims to capture the true soul vibe by setting the the mics and letting the tapes roll. A gutsy, soul drenched voice fused with dynamics to spare, Chich and his band float between rock and soul to sweet sultry ballads.

Chich is launching I’m Alive at The Vanguard in Newtown on Sunday August 31. Tickets are $21.80, available from the Vanguard website.
