You don’t often hear of singers being discovered at karaoke bars. Meet Srey Thy, who was snatched up by Khmer maestro Julien Poulson for his band Cambodian Space Project after he caught a glimpse of her ’60s dreamy Cambodian pop vocals. This month, the Newsagency Gallery (332 Stanmore Rd, Petersham) will host Cosmic Cambodia, a set of works by Poulson and Sticky Fingers Arts Prints Cambodia.

The exhibition comprises screen prints in 30 eclectic pop-art designs that depict images of the band, Cambodian pop stars and daily life in the country. Proceeds from the project will go to the families of the artists, affected by the Khmer Rouge genocide. Cosmic Cambodia is showing until Sunday September 29.
