Mark Kimber never fails to intrigue and delight with his fantastical photographic dioramas. His latest exhibition, Side Show Valley, provides an alluring commentary on photography, its history, and its power.

Kimber appeals to the photographic memory by constructing images on miniature stages, using doll figurines that are then altered and overlaid with photographs and the artist’s vision. Kimber creates richly layered worlds, wrought with a historian’s knowledge of the photographic medium and his belief in its importance as portal to the imagination.
