The inclusive, endlessly supportive DIY venue is calling it a day.

Black Wire Records, a longtime home for Australian and international alternative, punk, lo-fi and heavy metal bands has announced today its closure. The news is particularly painful given the recent spate of closures racking Sydney – most notably characterised by the closing of the Newtown Social Club doors.

Determined to go out with a bang, Black Wire have announced a “Death To Black Wire” gig on Thursday April 27, a bumper celebration of everything that made the venue great and boasting the involvement of such loved bands as Infinite Void, Canine and Orion.

Black Wire is set to close at some point this year. We will update the story as more information comes to light.
