“This is an overwhelming call for marriage equality”, said PM Malcolm Turnbull after this morning’s results in favour of same sex marriage a.k.a. marriage equality a.k.a. basic human rights.

The City of Sydney are offering up free weddings in their parks and halls, so it looks like a flood of love is set to hit the city.

“We will offer free rental of halls and parks to same-sex couples who want to get married in the 100 days following amendments to the Marriage Act becoming law”, Clover Moore said a few weeks ago.

“We’re making this gesture in the spirit of celebration and welcoming same-sex couples to this institution, to which they have been denied access so long — we are simply doing what we can to rebalance the scales.

“And the day after the amendments become law – we will also work with the Sydney Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to hold a mass same-sex wedding extravaganza in Sydney Town Hall.”
