Cancel whatever rubbish backyard BBQ you were being dragged to on the final weekend of June, and instead plan to touch as many exhibits as humanly possible.

Both the Powerhouse Museum and Australia Museum (plus Museums Discovery Centre in Castle Hill) are throwing their doors open and allowing free entry all weekend, which means access to the Powerhouse Museum’s Space and Transport exhibitions, The Wiggles exhibition, and the fashion-focused Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life, with actual items by Alexander McQueen, Julien Macdonald and more. Plus, there’s a robot named Baxter who will beat you in noughts and crosses, and NSW’s first locomotive.

Sydney Observatory is also free the same weekend, but unfortunately registrations to visit are booked solid.

While entry is free, both museums are encouraging you to register for free tickets, which also puts you in the draw for one of five MAAS VIP family passes worth over $200 each.

Both museums are open Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June, from 10am – 5pm. Go learn something! (Don’t touch the exhibits.)
