With restrictions travelling into Queensland easing and a new deal to get a $10 flight to the popular holiday destination, it looks like Gold Coast is the place to be right now.

For the rest of today only, you can nab a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast for only a blue dollar note, with a flight from Melbourne only being one dollar more expensive, all thanks to popular travel site Webjet.

There is, as with all things glorious, a slight catch.

The $10 price is only for a one way ticket to the Gold Coast, with a return flight costing upwards of $50.

The site also charges $35 in fees — $12.95 goes to the Webjet’s booking price guarantee and $21.95 goes to the service fee.

In saying all that, the prices still work out to be cheaper than if you were to just book direct with an airline.

If a family of six were to fly return from Sydney to the Gold Coast, with the $10 one way sale and $50 return flight, Webjet would charge you $400 total. Doing a little bit of math, that equates to $33 per flight, per person.

The sale will be ending at 11:59pm tonight (Thursday night).

All airlines associated with Webjet are involved in the sale, though Jetstar is the airline that is providing the cheapest flights.

The departures for the $10 sale range from February 1 to July 13, though figgerent dates apply for different destinations and different airlines.

Webjet OTA CEO David Galt said the flights were some of the cheapest they had to offer.

“The Gold Coast is one of the country’s most beloved beachside cities. It is an iconic holiday destination, and these discounted flights give Aussies an unmissable opportunity to pocket great savings and enjoy a much needed escape,” he said.

“The broad travel window and having no blackout dates means that all eager holiday-makers can book amazing value return flights.

“No matter if it’s a family-friendly holiday that means hitting the thrilling theme parks, or a trip to the Sunshine State to reconnect with loved ones, these cheap flights are a must-book for anyone wanting to lock in their next holiday.”
