Canberra’s jamborree, the National Folk Festival, has announced that the milestone 50thFestival over Easter 2016 will feature a very special venue.
A 97-year-old spiegeltentfrom Belgium, The Spiegel Zelt, will be the heart of the50thFestival’s reimagined festival village.
Festival director Pam Merrigan said, “It’salways been a dream to have a really specialvenue to program ourmore intimateshows and the Spiegel Zelt will bring a real touch of magic to our 50thanniversary Festival.“
A hand-hewn pavilion built of wood, mirrors,canvas, and leaded glass, the 110-seat venue will host a specially curated program for the 50thFestival. The Spiegel Zeltwill feature an mix ofentertainment including specialpresentations from some of the Festival’sinternational performers, immersiveand intimate shows, as well as some of the more edgy and outrageous acts on the program.
The 2016National Folk Festival runs Thursday March 24 – Monday March 28 at Exhibition Park, Canberra.
