It’s almost time to say ‘hello there” to a documentary all about Obi-Wan Kenobi, because Disney clearly can’t get enough Star Wars.

Titled Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return, the doc will debut on Thursday, September 8th as part of Disney+ Day, the now-annual virtual event that celebrates the glorious streaming offerings of Disney+ and Hulu.

The doc will take fans inside the making of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which sensationally saw Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return as the titular Jedi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader respectively.

“This insightful documentary from Lucasfilm and Supper Club explores the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to the screen – and Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their respective classic roles,” the official synopsis explains.

“Director Deborah Chow, cast and crew reflect on their journey to tell a new story with iconic Star Wars characters… while introducing new heroes and villains into the saga along the way.

“Complete with visits to the creature shop, props department and more, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return features the side of filmmaking that makes Star Wars so unique – the respect and passion for the generation-spanning legacy and the beloved characters.” You can watch the trailer for the forthcoming doc below.

Disney has a lot more planned for this year’s Disney+ Day. Another behind-the-scenes doc, Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder, will feature cast interviews and unseen footage from Taika Waititi’s film. The actual Thor: Love and Thunder will also make it to the streaming platform on the same day.

Elsewhere, Robert Zemeckis’ curious live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks (sadly not as the titular wooden puppet), will have its premiere on Disney+ on Thursday, September 8th.
