Children’s book series (and nightmare inducer) Goosebumps is getting a series on Disney plus.
According to Variety, Disney Plus has been developing a 10 episode series of R. L. Stine’s novels since April 2020.
Variety says that the series will follow a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.
Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman will be writers and executive producers on the series.

Letterman wrote and directed both Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and Monsters Vs. Aliens. Most notably, Letterman also directed the 2015 film adaptation of Goosebumps.
Letterman will also be directing the first episode of the series.
Executive producer, Neal H Mortiz, also worked as a producer on Goosebumps (2015) and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018).
The 2015 film however, was not a direct adaptation of the series. Instead, it followed R. L. Stine (Jack Black) as he fought the monsters from his novels coming to life in the real world.
The new direction suggests that the series is coming back to the source material and expanding on Stine’s horrific tales.
Goosebumps was originally developed into a series In 1995. Running for four seasons, it pulled from the countless books and brought to life some of Stine’s most terrifying creatures.
There are a total of 235 installments in the Goosebumps book series, so Disney has plenty of material to choose from!
Disney Plus debuted another R. L. Stine adaptation in October last year titled Just Beyond. In a similar fashion to Goosebumps, each episode was a different story with a different cast of actors.
