We all know that both Ace Ventura and Sonic the Hedgehog are iconic pop culture characters, and now the two worlds are colliding with news announced that the writers of Sonic The Hedgehog are currently working on a new Ace Ventura movie.

While the announcement that Ace Ventura 3 is in the works is exciting enough, the movie’s rights holders Morgan Creek has revealed they’ve penned a deal with Amazon for it to be written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller.

Casey and Miller were the writers of 2020’s Sonic The Hedgehog movie which conveniently also starred Ace Ventura’s Jim Carrey. However, news has not yet been announced whether Carrey will be reprising his role of Ace in the third installment of the franchise.

Morgan Park officially confirmed the reinvention of the 1994 classic, Ace Ventura, to Park Circus, saying: “Titles such as Ace Ventura, Major League, Young Guns, Dead Ringers, Diabolique, and Nightbreed are a few examples of multi-platform projects on the fast-track for reinvention. COVID, audiences have been in love and are thrilled to have beloved characters brought back with new stories. Ace Ventura will see a new day at Amazon as a major motion-picture/theatrical with the Sonic the Hedgehog writers,” they posted.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was Jim Carrey’s big break and the movie that saw him become a household name. Despite being ripped to shreds by critics, the movie was a box office hit and racked up over 100 million dollars in gross profits.

Sonic The Hedgehog was released in February last year and managed to put an end to Marvel Studios’ decade-long run of having the highest-grossing film of super hero films. It was also the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2020, and the highest-grossing superhero film of the year.

As of now, Ace Ventura 3 doesn’t yet have a release date.
