Adam Aron talks about the infamous Nicole Kidman AMC ad and what moviegoers can expect from future advertisements.
The Nicole Kidman AMC ad that everyone is trolling has received comments from AMC CEO Adam Aron. Aron talked about the fan reception of the ad and bringing back the full version.
“We were lucky to get Nicole Kidman to voice those commercials. She is a phenomenon all to her herself. I’ve been associated with lots of award-winning advertising over many decades, and I think that’s the best work of my career.
The second those commercials were in the can, I knew we had spectacular commercials. Since we launched them in September of 2021, that was the instant reaction of moviegoers and people in the press. We showed the Nicole Kidman commercial before every showtime in our theaters, and we were concerned that people might get burned out. Because people going to a movie every week [were seeing] the commercial over and over and over again. So in December or January, we switched from showing her 60-second commercial to her 30-second commercial, which is also a wonderful commercial. There was a petition that started circulating, demanding we bring the 60-second commercial back, which we did, of course. We’re very proud of the work, and we know that moviegoers really enjoy what Nicole says on behalf of AMC. I do expect those Nicole Kidman commercials will continue to run all of 2022. It does make us enthusiastic about continuing the advertising effort because it’s been so successful so far.”
Adam Aron also talked about how AMC raised the prices for more popular movies like The Batman.
“All I can say is that on “The Batman,” we know that we’re better off from having charged a $1 premium. We have plenty of discount programs that we’ve actively had been embracing: Discount Tuesdays; we rejigged all of our matinee pricing strategies last year; and A-list, our subscription program.”
