Film fans rejoice because Adam Sandler is returning to work with Uncut Gems directors Josh and Benny Safdie.
One of the best films of 2019, Sandler was a revelation in a more serious role in Uncut Gems, cut loose from the shackles of working with David Spade and Rob Schneider.
Fans had wondered and rumours had swirled as to whether Sandler would work again with the Safdie brothers and thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now know the answer is a big yes.
In an interview with EW earlier this week, the actor said that he was “going to do another movie with the Safdie brothers.” He didn’t go any further than that but we should expect exciting things – we all know that Sandler is the Safdies’ one true muse, Julia Fox.
“They’re working hard on it,” Sandler said about the directors. “Their work ethic is bananas. They’re always working, always writing, always thinking. I don’t know what I can tell you, but it’s gonna be very exciting.
It’s different. But I don’t want them to ever say, ‘What the hell did you tell him that for?’ So I’ll just let them talk (about it).” Quick, someone call up Josh and Benny.
The reunion really isn’t that much of a surprise. Both parties have gushed over each other previously, with Sandler once saying that he “would die to work with (the Safdies) again.” And that was even before Uncut Gems was released in 2019.

After narrowly missing out on an Oscar nomination for his performance as ‘energetic’ New York City jeweller Howard in Uncut Gems, maybe this next Safdies’ collaboration will earn Sandler some prized awards. Let’s be honest, Little Nicky was never going to achieve that.
