It’s a widespread known fact that Aldi cause a stir, year in, year out, with their crazy low prices. From snow gear, to audio-visual equipment, to even ridiculously cheap homewares – they’ve scored high praise online and beyond.

Here’s one for the overage audience. If cheap alcohol sounds good to you, the retail giant’s newest and likely most shocking offer will have you flooring that darn accelerator down to your nearest store.

You’re probably not going to believe this. Aldi now sells a six pack of wine for just $12.99 AUD. That comes down to a nifty $2.17 AUD per bottle.

In case you are indeed wondering – “Is this this true?”, let me tell you what – we couldn’t make something like this up even if we tried.

Here’s what’s on offer: Entire cases of Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz Cabernet are both included in the deal. So, whether it’s red or white wine you desire so strongly, you’re well and truly covered.

It sure ain’t often you come across a deal as enticing as this, so, what must be the catch? Plot twist – there is no catch.

According to online reviews through Vivino, it ain’t too shabby at all. One consumer of Aldi’s ‘Six of One’ range said: ‘A cheap red wine from Aldi that works out to be $2.17 a bottle — punches above it’s weight for price”.

Meanwhile, in a more thought out review, a drinker said: “Nice crisp wine. Easy to go down. Not too fruity. Smooth.”

Another drinker said: “Not a bad drop for the price”. Surely this has to beat the old cask wine I used to drink!

Buying Director for Wines and Sparkling at Aldi, Jason Bowyer, discussed the secret to the retailer’s liquor success story, indicating a focus on “great value” has been at the helm.

“Aldi wines are multi-award winning for both exceptional taste and value,” he said.

“The golden rule we work on is that a $10 wine at ALDI should drink like a standard $20-25 wine”.

It’s not the first time the German supermarket has stunned shoppers with their value and quality, with the retailer regularly causing a frenzy. They’ve even been dubbed the “most trustworthy brand in Australia.”
