Brendan Fevola’s affair with Lara Worthington (nee Bingle) dominated headlines back when it was revealed in 2006. Fevola was married to Alex Fevola at the time and the couple had just welcomed a baby daughter into the world.
Almost 17 years later, Brendan Fevola’s ex-wife Alex has revealed when she found out about the affair, and how she confronted Lara.
In a new book released by Alex, the 44-year-old wrote that she began to grow suspicious when Brendan was “rehearsing a lot” for his hosting role on The Footy Show.
“I felt a twinge of doubt. It was at that moment my heart sank. I felt sick,” Alex wrote, referring to a performance by Lara on the sports how.
“I felt insane even saying it but I knew it was true. I don’t know how I knew I just did. One of the reasons I felt this was because I knew Brendan very well and he’d mentioned every other person that was featuring on [The Footy Show], but he had never mentioned her. I knew exactly why.
“It all made sense; the underlying self-doubt I’d been feeling, the distance. In a split-second the dread set in, that horrible gut-wrenching feeling knowing my life was about to become very complicated.”
Alex said that she eventually found texts between Lara and Brendan in her husband’s phone, and called the 19-year-old model to confront her about the affair.

“I said: ‘It’s Alex Fevola, Brendan’s wife. Why are you doing this?’ She was silent. I asked again: ‘How could you do this? You know he’s married and we’ve just had a baby’. There was a pause and then she hung up,” she wrote. “That was it. I never called back; I had all the confirmation I needed.”
While Alex didn’t use Lara’s name in the book, Brendan’s affair with her was highly publicised. Alex has previously confirmed the betrayal, and Lara has claimed that she didn’t know Brendan was married at the time.
Lara married Australian actor Sam Worthington in 2014, and now goes by the name Lara Worthington.
