Famed Los Angeles stand up comedian Brody Stevens has passed away at age 48 of an apparent suicide.

The Blast has reported that he was found at 1 pm on Friday afternoon, in what is being investigated as a suicide by hanging. The LAPD are currently at the scene of his passing and are speaking with his family.

Stevens rose to fame over the years, specialising in his particular brand of oddball humour, appearing on a variety of shows including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live!,The Late Late Show, Comedy Bang! Bang! and more. Stevens also appeared in the 2009 smash film The Hangover and recently toured the United States with Dave Chappelle.

The comedian has been open about his struggles with depression and mental health in the past, and recently expressed his disappointment with the reaction he recieved for his latest taped special.

An outpouring of tributes to the late comedian have been made over social media, with fellow members of the community remembering Stevens’ legacy in a slew of posts.

“If you are depressed or feeling suicidal please please please please please reach out to ANYONE. I never get to see Brody Stevens again I can’t stand this,” said Patton Oswald in a Twitter post.
