Former NBA champion Andrew Bogut claims he was “shadowbanned” from Instagram after sharing a post soundtracked by John Farnham’s ‘You’re The Voice.’

Earlier this month, Andrew Bogut took to Instagram to criticize Australia’s COVID-19 lockdowns, whilst alleging that the Australian government is paying celebrities to tell people to stay home.

In an 11-minute video, Bogut condemned the nationwide lockdowns as measures that disproportionately affect the working class. He also went on to make unsubstantiated claims that celebrities who have taken to promoting lockdowns are being paid by the government, whilst those who speak out against the restrictions are being “muzzled.”

“Last year, about three or four months into this pandemic, I got offered money to put out a public service announcement for you everyday plebs to stay home,” Bogut said. “It would read something like, ‘Hi I’m Andrew Bogut, former NBA washed-up athlete, former Olympian, whatever you want to call it, it’s your duty to stay home, do the right thing for the community.’

He continued, “I refuse to do that shit. And I was offered money for it, I don’t need the money, you’re right, I was offered money for it. I refused to do that shit.”

In a new video, Bogut claims that his Instagram activity has been shadowbanned, alleging that his posts stopped reaching his audience after sharing John Farnham’s ‘You’re The Voice.’

“Not sure what I did. This morning I posted a lyric from a John Farnham song. The post got throttled immediately, the link stopped working, people couldn’t comment,” he said.

Bogut went on to suggest that he assumed his posts were restricted because he failed to credit John Farnham. “So I reposted it and credited John Farnham. Said, ‘It’s a great song for these times.’ That got throttled.”

Bogut continued, “I have essentially been put in Instagram jail, I’m not sure why.” He then went on to allege that the shadowban was a reaction to his posts criticizing lockdown.

“Wrong think I believe,” he said. “Instagram please let me know what I did. I beg you. If you need me to promote some of your causes or toe the line about what’s acceptable, wrong speak wrong think just let me know.”

The former Warriors center went on to state that he anticipates his account will be deleted in the “coming days.”

“It’s awesome stuff,” he said. “Free democratic society, never made any threats, never abused anybody. I’ve been silenced.”
