Rejoice Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fans, for your wish for a limited edition vinyl release has actually come to fruition.

Who said that vinyl wasn’t for video gamers? According to Spin, Ubisoft have partnered with Lakeshore Records to produce a multicoloured double album containing literal hours of the video game’s original score.

For those who don’t know, Valhalla was the 12th major instalment and the 22nd release in the Assassin’s Creed series, following 2018’s Odyssey.

Set between 872 and 878AD, the game was set during the Viking invasion of Britain. The player took control of Eivor, a Viking raider who soon becomes involved in a serious conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order.

The game received wide acclaim for many aspects, chief amongst it the accompanying soundtrack. And now this new release brings that to life through vinyl.

The release splits things into tow, focusing on one composer per album: so the first disc is devoted to 13 tracks by Jesper Kyd (Borderlands, Darksiders II) and the second disc focuses on 15 tracks by Sarah Schachner (Call of Duty, Anthem).  The intimidating and familiar vocal tones of Norwegian musician Einar Selvik will also feature, if those first two musicians weren’t enough.

You better be fast though if you want to get your hands on the release. Given the game is so beloved by fans, this is destined to sell out pretty quickly. Just think how much better paying Valhalla would be with the vinyl filling the room at the same time. It’s certainly a level up from your mates alone with just the game and their console.
