The Australian Ballet have today unveiled their 2015 season.
“Ballet embodies all that is beautiful about the human experience,” noted Artistic Director David McAllisterof the 2015 season. “In Australia, we have our own unique beauty that is powered by athleticism. Our dancers have a strength that is dynamic, fearless and exciting, which reflects our rich and inclusive Australian culture.”
The centrepiece of the 2015 season will be an extravagant new production ofThe Sleeping Beauty, directed byMcAllister.
Other highlights of the 2015 season include a representation of the dynamic athleticism of ballet in the contemporary season20:21; Maina Gielgud’s renowned production ofGiselle;a season dedicated to British choreographer Frederick Ashton,The Dream; and the return of Graeme Murphy’sSwan Lakein Sydney (andan encore season of Alexei Ratmansky’sCinderellain Melbourne).
