The SmartFone Flick Fest is set to make its debut this year.

It runs on the principle that you have the ability to make your own film using only your smartphone. It provides a platform for filmmakers of any experience level to have their work showcased and exposed to a global community without having to make a significant dent in their wallets.

There aren’t many rules for submissions. Your entry needs to be no longer than six-and-a-half minutes and needs to be entirely shot on a smartphone or tablet.

The top ten films will be selected to show at a Gala Finals Screening in August and judged by a panel of film industry experts, including Jason van Genderen and Anthony Montes.

Entries close on Sunday August 16 and the Finals Screening will take place on Friday August 28 at Palace Chauvel Cinema in Paddington. For more information and to submit your film, head to SmartFone Flick Fest’s website.
