It’s been a minute, or rather what feels like an eternity since Avatar was unleashed onto the world.

Well, it’s been over a decade after all.

Without a doubt, we can all recall the absolute feeling of astonishment, nothing short of being blown away by the crazy visuals thanks to CGI when Avatar first came to the big screen.

While we lay in waiting for the sequel, we can only wonder how the next instalment will size up.

As reported via Screen Rant the film is set to utilise groundbreaking underwater technology, with the plot’s storyline taking us to the deep blue sea.

By the sounds of it, there’ll be a lot of underwater action in the film. After all, new cast addition, Kate Winslet broke a record for an underwater movie stunt while filming. She held her breath underwater for more than seven minutes on set.

The record was previously held by Tom Cruise for his role in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, with Cruise holding his breath for six minutes underwater.

Now the franchise’s producer Jon Landau has taken to Instagram to bring the latest Avatar hype. This time in the form of some new concept art.

The artwork has been completed by concept artist, Jonathan Back, with the utopian-feeling graphic giving us a first look at the Metkayina Village.

In the post’s caption, Landau shared, “Tomorrow, as part of our Behind Pandora stories, we will be featuring concept artist Jonathan Bach. In advance of that, I thought I would share a concept illustration he created of the Metkayina village.”

He added, “This is just one of the many incredible images that he and the rest of our art department have created for the Avatar sequels. Thank you to everyone on the production design team!”

At this stage we can expect Avatar 2 to drop at the end of 2022.
