Avatar: The Last Airbender is a show that comes to mind when recalling Nickelodeon’s many cult-classic animations that have been developed over the years.
And now in a recent podcast its creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have reflected on their thoughts that fans think they have created the epitome of a “perfect show”, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Their thoughts? Konietzko said, “That blows me away,” he added, “There’s so much that I would fix.”
Acknowledging that “you can only fix so much,” Konietzko explained, “There’s a bunch of stuff that I just think, ‘Ugh, I wish that scene was animated better; I don’t like the way this character’s looking in this episode.'”
“Sure, it would be nice if it all was super slick and looked its utter best, but it still delivers this really powerful, complete package to people that goes straight to their hearts.”
The modesty with the show’s creators is real and now as per their latest announcement, they’re about to get to work on their show again, but in a whole new way.
According to the duo, they’re working on a new project seeing Avatar Studios pair up with Nickelodeon once again to bring us ‘Avatarverse’ related content.
“We’re coming in now and we have unprecedented support from Nickelodeon,” DiMartino said.
“So it is the franchise, the shows and animated stuff, but also other stuff beyond, in publishing, and in podcasts like you’re doing and all that stuff.”
“We have all the ideas and ideally we’re going to get to, over the years, explore all of them and get to make them, but it’ll take some time.”
Unfortunately we can’t expect it to arrive any time soon as DiMartino revealed, “It’s going to take a while before new stuff starts percolating out there.”
What can we expect from the new project? Konietzko said they’re going to bring us into the Avatar world like never before, letting us inside “this big, rich, largely untapped history and future in the Avatar world.”
