It feels like former US President Barack Obama comes out of the woodwork every-so-often with something soft and wholesome to remind us how good it was before the whole world starting burning.
Well, the USA’s coolest former pres is back at it again, releasing his ridiculously on-point end of year lists of his favourite books, movies and music which features a very familiar face.
Australian treasure Courtney Barnett features prominently on the musical list with her stunning track Need A Little Time from 2018’s Tell Me How You Really Feel which picked up Best Rock Album at this year’s ARIAs.
Courtney’s m8 Kurt Vile also pops up on the list with One Trick Ponies, also making the cut is the likes of The Carters (Apes**t), Grammys hopeful Brandi Carlile (Every Time I Hear That Song), newly single Cardi B (I Like It feat, Bad Bunny and J Balvin) and a stack more.
Predictably, being placed on a list such as this would be very exciting and artists are being very vocal with their delight at being part of the club.
Thanks for putting “make me feel” on your “fav songs of 2018” list ! And since we’re talking “best of the year” lists , once again, you still hold da #1 spot for best president @barackobama ? courtesy of the @obamafoundation pic.twitter.com/Tvmzu2QYd9

Barack’s movie suggestions read like an Oscars nominations list featuring flicks like Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade, Mr Rodgers doco Won’t You Be My Neighbour and Spike Lee joint BlackKklansman.
When it comes to books, Michelle Obama’s autobiography Becoming topped the list because the Obamas have a perfect relationship that us mere mortals could never dream of.
