Hey, you like music right? What about seeing live music? Well, what about cheap live music? Yeah, we know, it almost sounds too good to be true, but bear with us as we tell you that it’s not just some impossible dream, it’s actually a very real possibility that we can help you realise.

With the phantom of Christmas shopping looming ever closer and money tight, here’s a quick list of some of the best Sydney gigs this month that won’t break the bank.

Bec Sandridge

Free at the Clovelly Hotel, Sunday December 10

One of finest musicians in Australia right now, Bec Sandridge has been turning heads wherever she goes thanks to her gorgeous voice, and penchant for writing some downright brilliant songs. Having just returned from a European tour and released her cracking new single ‘I’ll Never Want A BF’, now’s the perfect time to catch her – and for free, too!

This Sunday, Bec is heading to the Clovelly Hotel as part of their ‘She Sessions’ series. Having recently featured the likes of Asta, Ali Barter, and Tigertown, these gigs have been one of the best ways to spend a lazy Sunday arvo.

The best part is it won’t cost you a cent to get in, so make sure you head along to the Clovelly Hotel this weekend for one of the biggest bargains you’ll find anywhere this summer.

Boo Seeka

$17 at Manning Bar, Thursday December 17

Boo Seeka have been capturing the hearts and minds of Aussie music fans for a couple of years now with their slick, sweet sounds. Now, with a debut album under their belt, the band have been hitting the road and showing fans what they’re all about. Thursday, December 14th sees Boo Seeka hitting up the Manning Bar for what is sure to be one night you won’t forget.

Oslow

$12 at Factory Floor, Friday December 15

Having formed five years ago, Oslow have spent the last few years making a name for themselves as one of the hardest-working, most intense punk bands that you’ll ever see.

Amazingly, despite their reputation among indie circles as one of the finest bands on the circuit, you can still sneak your way into an Oslow show for a tenner and some change – that’s the sort of price you’ll be telling your kids about when you regale them of tales of your concert-going youth. Be sure to catch them at Marrickville’s Factory Floor on December 15th.

Reuben Stone

$14 at Waywards, Thursday December 14

Having caught the ear of triple j and Unearthed, Reuben Stone has been a force to be reckoned with in recent years. With an enthralling, hypnotic style of performing, Stone has been all over the world with his unique sound, and played alongside some of music’s biggest names, including Pharrell Williams and Sea Sick Steve.

Stone will be hitting up Waywards in Newtown on December 14th for what will undoubtedly be one of the best nights of live music you’ll see in Sydney this month.

Saskwatch

Free at the Clovelly Hotel, Sunday December 17

Saskwatch have had a great year, knocking it out of the park with their first independently-released album (and fourth so far), Manual Override. Lead by the enigmatic Nkechi Anele, whose voice you’ve also heard presenting triple j’s Roots ‘n All program this year, Saskwatch are an incredible live band to watch.

Another great gig as part of the Clovelly’s ‘She Sessions‘, it’s 100% free, and we can think of few better ways to spend the last Sunday before Christmas than soaking up a bargain gig by the beach.
