Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up once again, this time to tell the true story about Nike and Michael Jordan.

According to Deadline the film will follow Sonny Vaccaro, the remarkable sneaker salesman who was in charge of a small company called Nike. Vaccaro (Damon) and co-founder Phil Knight (Affleck) will be in pursuit of signing Michael Jordan to the company and forming what would become one of the biggest brand and athlete relationships in sporting history.

Affleck will also be directing the film. This will be his first film directing gig since 2016’s Live By Night which received a mixed response. However, Affleck also directed the true story Argo which was met with countless awards and nominations.

The original script was written by Alex Convery and was titled Air Jordan. Ironically, the script was listed in 2021’s Black List of the best unproduced screenplays.

The film is currently un-titled but will be made for Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures.

The film does not have a set release date.

Damon and Affleck famously star together regularly, having been friends since high school.

Most recently, they starred alongside Jodie Comer in the Ridley Scott 2021 film The Last Duel.

Though not a commercial success, the film is considered a victim of the pandemic and according to Scott suffered from phone obsessed millennials who “do not want to be taught anything.”

However, the film that took Affleck and Damon to the stratosphere of fame was Good Will Hunting back in 1997.

The script was written by the pair and won best screenplay at the Academy Awards. The film also won best supporting actor from the late and great Robin Williams.

“Ben and I owe everything to him,” said Damon, back in 2014. “I look around at the life I have how blessed I feel, and so much of it started with him.”
