In a bit of a surprise announcement, Bethesda are making a new Indiana Jones game in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

We’ve had murmurs about a new Indiana Jones movie for several years now, but we didn’t expect him to come walking back through our door in the form of a new video game.

Bethesda has announced that it is teaming up with Lucasfilm Games to make a game featuring the fedora-wearing archaeologist.

Just to really hammer home that this project is legit and not just something that Harrison Ford insisted is happening for several years now, a brief teaser trailer was also released alongside the announcement.

While there’s not really much to go off in the trailer, it is very stylised and we do get a glimpse of Indy’s famous fedora and whip.

As for the deets about this Indiana Jones game, it is being developed by MachineGames (best known for their work on the brilliant Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus) and executive produced by Bethesda Games Studios bigwig Todd Howard (who is best known for his major role in the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games).

Beyond revealing that the game will be telling a new and original standalone story set at the height of Indy’s career, we have no clue if this is an RPG, open-world game, or an action-adventure game like the Indiana Jones-inspired Uncharted, what its release window is, or what platforms it will be on.

Speaking of platforms, it’ll be interesting to see if this Indiana Jones game will be multi-platform or exclusive to Xbox only given how Microsoft recently bought out Bethesda.

Anyway, this is exciting news nonetheless and it seems like we’ve come full circle in a strangely unexpected way.

Think about it, Uncharted is now a movie and Indiana Jones is now a video game.

Now we’re just wondering if Harrison Ford will be part of this project as well.
