A lot of people love Better Call Saul. A lot more people would probably love it if the two biggest stars of Breaking Bad also joined Bob Odenkirk on the show.

Fans have clamoured for Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul to appear in the spinoff basically since it first aired, which presumably has been a heavy cross to bear for co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould

Hope seems to be on the horizon though. While appearing at the premiere for the final season, Better Call Saul‘s head honchos teased that the two shows do in fact crossover.

“It would be a damn shame if the show ended without (Cranston and Paul) appearing, would it not?” Gilligan told Variety. “You heard it here first,” he added wryly.

Better Call Saul, of course, is set before the infamous events of Breaking Bad. In its sixth season, though, the spinoff grows ever closer to the timeline of its predecessor. “If it’s ever going to happen, this is when these two shows start crossing over,” Gould said.

Cranston and Paul famously reprised the roles of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman respectively in 2019’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Film, which followed Jesse after he managed to escape enslavement from Todd (Jesse Plemons) and Uncle Jack’s (Michael Bowen) gang.

The pair could even return in Better Call Saul in different roles though. As Gould added coyly, “These two worlds crossover in a way that you haven’t seen before, that’s for sure.”

The final season of Better Call Saul premieres on AMC on Monday, April 18th. Keep your eyes peeled in its 13 episodes for any sightings of Walter and Jesse (or Cranston and Paul at least).
