It seems that the craziness in Melbourne continues to roll on, with the city being hit this morning by a widespread earthquake.

As reported by Nine, the 6.0 magnitude quake hit the Mansfield area, east of Melbourne.

It struck at approximately around 9.15am this morning, with the tremors sending shockwaves through the city for about 20-30 seconds.

With much damaged being reported around the city, all eyes are on a particular building at a very popular location in Melbourne, that being Betty’s Burger on Chapel Street, Windsor.

Just a subtle trigger warning for the below, as social media has become flooded with footage of the destruction to the area. It’s particularly alarming considering that so many frequenters of Chapel Street Windsor have not been able to visit the area for some time now.

As reported by The Agethe earthquake has been felt as far up from Melbourne as regional Victoria as well as Canberra.

A geoscientist from the University of Melbourne, Mark Quigley has warned that we may need to be prepared for small aftershocks.

Quigley said, “It’s between a 5.5 and a 5.8.”

“That’s called the moment magnitude – that gives you an idea of how much the ground moved. The strong shaking went on for about 10 seconds.”

“For something of that size, we’re talking about a fault that would be on the order of maybe 5 kilometres long and three kilometres wide.”

Quigley added, “For an earthquake of that magnitude, we would expect to get hundreds of small aftershocks. We could get aftershocks in the range of 4.5 magnitude.”

Thankfully no one was in the building and no injuries have been reported as a result of the wreckage that was caused.
