If dangerous sharks weren’t enough to contend with, terrifying “alien-like” creatures are now washing up on Bondi Beach.
10 News shared a video of the monstrosity. “Um, What Is THAT? A strange, alien-like creature has stunned Bondi beachgoers after it washed up on the shore amongst the seaweed,” they captioned the tweet.
Lots of Bondi beachgoers begin to gather around the oddity. Two people discuss what the hell the creature could be – one hopefully guesses what sounds like a “horn shark” but this is refuted by their mate.
Honestly your guess is good as mine. It looks like a Deep Pan version of a Hammerhead shark, the poor thing. Its mouth seems permanently stuck in an expression of shock.
Twitter was immediately filled with plenty of hypotheses. “Special kind of sting-ray?” asked someone. “Looks like a shark x stingray x flattened faced seagull,” said another Twitter user, really hedging their bets. “From #Fukushima,” said someone else.
Yet another person was much more detailed with their answer. “It’s a deep sea fish suffering the effects that the blowfish has when it’s exposed to pressure changes too fast to cope with… either that or it’s a birth defected animal.”
Who knows what fate awaits the creature now. Maybe it’ll be returned to the sea and we’ll all try to get the image of its form out of our nightmares and move on with our lives. Maybe it’ll be taken for scientific inspection somewhere. Both options seem about as good as each other.

Bondi Beach has been having quite the time of it lately. Just this week, the iconic beach completely disappeared beneath the crashing waves as the truly awful Sydney weather moved over it. There’s really just no point in leaving the house these days.
