Southern Cross University’s Lismore campus is currently in lockdown with reports of a gunman on campus, The Northern Star reports.
The university is currently urging all staff and students to stay inside, with the campus on lockdown.
Witness Louise Harman confirmed that “five policemen with machine guns just came in moving towards the library region, pointing their guns and using hand signals.”
Other unconfirmed reports suggested that there could be two gunmen on campus.

While the reports of the gunmen have not been confirmed by authorities, police are currently surrounding the uni.
“Please be aware that the Campus is in emergency lockdown. Please follow all warning announcements and stay indoors. You’ll be advised on further instructions by staff on campus,” posted the SCU Law Students Facebook page.
“Holy fuck there’s a shooter at uni”, posted another student, Angus Filed on Instagram.

Lismore High and the nearby childcare centre, Blinkys, are also in lockdown.
Students from Wyrallah Road Public School, a nearby primary, were advised that they are safe to travel home on buses, but those who were planning to walk or ride home have been held back.
The Rivers Secondary College Lismore High campus is also in lockdown this afternoon.
“The school is currently in lockdown due to an unfolding matter at the university,” they posted on their Facebook page.
