While NRL fans may have already caught this new Briggs joint being played live recently as part of the league’s Indigenous round, the track has just dropped today with a footy-themed clip as part of a collaboration with Fox Sports – so expect to hear plenty of the horn-laden anthem throughout the season.
The track, which marries the solid ‘Eye of the Tiger’ DNA we’d expect of any good sporting song with the Indigenous themes Briggs and his outfit A.B. Original are well known for, also features the powerful vox of Darwin’s Caiti Baker, who just took out top honours at this year’s NT Song of the Year Awards.
“I created this track as the theme for the Fox League channel,” Briggs says. “The song reflects the journey of the Indigenous players who give so much excitement and leadership to the sport and community week in and week out, not just the specific Indigenous round.”
