Look, let’s be real.

I know that you were planning to get drunk at the Courthouse Hotel in Newtown this Sunday afternoon, because I read your text messages (you don’t wanna know how).

So, instead of giving a tenuous excuse to maybe catch up somewhere on Australia St. (and speaking of Australia Street) sometime in the afternoon, why not wrap it around ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ – a fundraiser which involves drinking beer, being surrounded by Very Good Boys (as discussed: all dogs are boys, all cats are girls), and raising a lot of money for charity?

The Courty and Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic are hosting this event, to raise money for the Courty Trust Fund.

“The main aim of the fund is to aid financially disadvantaged pet owners get much needed help for their loved furry friend when they need it most”, the event page explains. “Project Hope has helped out many members of the wider Inner West so it only seems appropriate we come together and show support to this great organisation.”

Below are the various activities happening that afternoon, all with a doggy dog bend. This list is from the Courty’s own invite, so if you notice typos, best course of action is to throw a brick through the window, with a piece of paper wrapped around it with the corrections on.

– Karma kegs (Pay what you feel and all proceeds go to Project Hope).
– Raffle (prizes ranging from brewery merch to doggie day care).
– Face painting for the kids/adults.
– Guess the amount of kibble (winner takes all home!)
– Polaroids of you and your doggo for the Courty’s pupper wall!
– Southern Cross clinicians who will be doing free check ups!

Here’s the Facebook invite, but basically, go to the pub on Sunday arvo. Same as it ever was.
