Former Bachelorette lead Brooke Blurton has slammed the The Bachelor alliance that formed on The Challenge.
Blurton told Yahoo Lifestyle Australia that she joined the show with the hope of showing viewers another side to her.
“I wanted to do The Challenge to do The Challenge,” she says. “I didn’t go to do The Bachelor again or do a remake of Bachelor In Paradise, that’s not what I came for.
She added, “I had just finished writing my book and I wanted to reclaim who Brooke Blurton was, so I didn’t want to be affiliated with them. I got dragged into it so many times, but I made a conscious effort and a conscious decision that I wanted to go into The Challenge just being Brooke Blurton, not Brooke Blurton from The Bachelorette.”
The reality star said that she didn’t really understand why The Bachelor contestants clung together during The Challenge.
“I really like authenticity and genuine connection, and you think that you’re getting a really genuine person in front of you and you think you’re getting a really genuine connection, but you turn your back and the next minute you’re getting thrown under the bus,” she remarks.
“This was a whole concept that I’ve never ever experienced or been involved in. Yeah, The Bachelor is a very competitive nature, you’re vying for one person, but this is a game and people will do anything to win that game and win that money – even if it’s destroying a potential relationship that you have with someone outside of that.”

The Challenge is a hugely popular British reality show that originated in the UK and has spawned 37 seasons. It regularly features reality stars from both the UK and the US and sees the cast members compete against each other in gruelling and physical challenges.
The Australian version of the show has a slightly different format from the original version. The series, titled The Challenge: War of the Worlds, will see four separate countries – Australia, the UK, the US and Argentina – run their own versions of the show, which is known as The Challenge (part one). The winners from the local series will compete against the other countries in The Challenge (part two) to determine the winner.
