If you’re in the mood for good vibrations that would make even Mark Wahlberg jealous, then you need to find your way down to Melbourne’s Café Lafayette for some Japanese fusion goodness.
There’s nothing quite like brunch on a lazy, summer weekend, and this is where Café Lafayette comes in – a place where you’re gonna have a good time. If you’re in search of a place that brings the best of Japanese dishes fused with the classics of home here in Australia, then this is the perfect brunch spot that you’re about to become obsessed with.
Tucked in Niagra Lane, hidden like a sweet secret, is Café Lafayette – a self-proclaimed funky brunch spot which we’ve long awaited the return of after its short and sweet opening prior to that whole mess that COVID created.
Taking to reimagining the staples that we have all come to love over the years, and popping a little Japanese twist into each dish, their menu is unparalleled with delicious options.
First off, you can order a rainbow latte, complete with gorgeous art on top, or even a red velvet latte made with beetroot. If you’re feeling something even sweeter, there’s an iced caramocha that can surely get your day started.
Next up for food, you can try their version of the beef pie, complete with beef bolognese, mashed potatoes, and crispy kataifi pastry. Or, if you’re more in the mood for something on the sweeter side you can tuck into their matcha french toast, that’s topped with marscapone cheese and strawberries.
Feeling a bit more adventurous? There’s an unagi hotdog on offer topped with tamagoyaki, coral lettuce, mayonnaise, and pickled onions, or you can even snap up their octopus takoyaki fritters served with tonkatsu sauce, renkon chips, mayonnaise, and zucchini pickle.
