Cebu Pacific airlines has joined forces with Australian artisan ice-creamery Manila St and is giving away free ice cream to celebrate the relaunch of its Melbourne-Manila route.

The carrier will resume flights on Monday, March 27 after a three-year hiatus and will operate a thrice-weekly service. To mark the relaunch, Cebu Pacific is partnering with Manila St and created an exclusive new ice cream flavour, Calamansi Cheesecake.

Chester and Michelin Dapo, the founders of Manila St, have created the flavour to commemorate the event. Shoppers and passers-by in Melbourne’s Central Shopping Centre will receive free Calamansi Cheesecake ice-cream this coming weekend. Interest in Filipino ice-cream has grown significantly in recent times, and the Dapos have used calamansi, a type of citrus fruit native to the Philippines, to give their ice-cream a unique twist.

Commenting on the collaboration, Carmina Romero, a representative of Cebu Pacific, said: “We are very excited to be undertaking this promotion with Chester and his Manila St brand. The connection between the Philippines and Australia has always been strong. Now we have reinforced the bond further by teaming up with someone who is successfully tapping Filipino culture and sharing it with the Australian community”.

Members of the public can visit Manila St’s ice-cream stand at Melbourne Central this coming weekend to try the new flavour, and those who share their experience on social media can enter a draw to win return flights from Melbourne to Manila. Cebu Pacific’s Melbourne to Manila flights will operate three times a week, with flights available to book from AUD 169 one-way, all in, at cebupacificair.com.

The partnership between Cebu Pacific and Manila St underscores the close ties between the Philippines and Australia, and the importance of good food and great travel experiences. With this exciting collaboration, travellers can now look forward to a truly unique and delicious experience when flying with Cebu Pacific.

Need an additional excuse to head to the Philippines? With flights so cheap, you’ll have money left over to check-in to a relaxing retreat at one of the country’s top resorts.
