Fetch the aluminium pole from the crawlspace and limber up for those feats of strength, because Sydney’s Glenmore Hotel are set to host a Festivus celebration this Sunday!

First popularised thanks to a 1997 Seinfeld episode (and in turn based on a real holiday dating back to the ’60s), Festivus is an alternative to the commercialised Christmas period, and is fast becoming one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Celebrated on December 23rd each year, Festivus requires little more than just a plain aluminium pole, however, the Glenmore Hotel are going all-out with this year’s festivities.

Kicking off this Sunday, the Glenmore is set to provide the complete Seinfeld experience. Featuring themed rooms and live music on the rooftop, they’re also urging punters to dress up as their favourite character (while also giving out awards for the best and worst-dressed).

That’s not all though, they’ll be serving $12 Aperol Spritz all day, along with a ‘These Pretzels are makin’ me thirsty’ cocktail special, and – best of all – a wall completely dedicated to letting you air your grievances.

While there’s no word yet if there will be any distracting tinsel at the hotel, or if they’ll be keeping things in plain in true Festivus spirit, what’s clear though is that this Sunday is set to be the perfect opportunity for dedicated Seinfeld fans to come and celebrate this beloved holiday.
