Rene-Charles has so far released six tunes, including two Weeknd covers/remixes.
It’s pretty good stuff, with ‘This World’ owing a fair debt of gratitude to early Kanye, with its chipmunk soul production flourishes and — surprisingly, considering his lineage — charmingly earnest off-key singing.
“Growing up I was sheltered from the world” he raps. “My pride’s too high to live off my momma’s checks.”
It looks like the pressure to live up to Celine is already weighing on him, though.
