Channing Tatum may just be the voice of the people, after still rallying for a MIB (Men in Black) and 21 Jump Street movie to happen, 8 years after news of the crossover leaked.

Anticipation around a potential spin off of the two hit films was raised way back in April 2016 when the confirmed title MIB 23 was announced in the same conference as Spider-Man: Homecoming. Many fans took the ’23’ as a hint of a joint venture between the titles, considering that the sequel to the original 21 Jump Street is titled 22 Jump Street.

Excitement grew after fans dug up the 2014 Sony hack in which leaked documents confirmed that the flick would be a crossover between the two franchises. Shortly after the announcement of the title, Sony released an early teaser logo and brought James Bobin on board to direct MIB 23.

However, hopes were dashed when producer Walter Parkes confirmed to Empire that the movie was off the table, saying “we gave it a shot. It turned out to be an impossible match-up.”

But, a recent interview sees Tatum continuing to rally for the spin off to happen. During a chat with Collider, Tatum has stated that he really thinks that the movie could work.

“You’re preaching to the choir, man,” he told the publication when the interview shared enthusiasm about a the crossover.

He added: ‘I still think it could work, I really do. And if Sony would ever really, like, I think do the hard work and figure out the producer problems that are inherent with that film, I think we can still do it. But right now, I don’t know why, they’re just not motivated to do it. It’s a big overhead on that movie, so.”

Interestingly, Tatum shared some insight about the script for MIB 23 too, describing it as “by and away the best third sequel to any franchise that I’ve ever read, in my entire life.”.

“Bar none,” Tatum added. “And I would not say that if I did not really believe it, because I don’t like being wrong, like, specifically about that”.
