Welcome back, low-coast air travel: Jetstar resumed international flights for the first time since March today and here’s hoping it’s back for good.

COVID-19 cases might be rising and the worrying Omicron variant might be on the horizon but international travel is still continuing ahead.

Jetsar brought back their daily Melbourne to Singapore route today, December 16th, the beginning of the return of their international flight schedule. From tomorrow, December 17th, Jetstar will resume five flights a week from Fiji to Sydney if you’re after some golden beaches and serious relaxation.

International flights to the likes of Thailand, Bali, Japan, and Vietnam will – fingers crossed – then resume in early 2022 as quarantine requirements in these destinations ease.

Knowing that Australians will naturally be hesitant to return to the skies right now, Jetstar have a new policy they hope will entice customers. The Fly Flexible policy offers anyone who books flights before February 28th 2022 with a ‘fee free’ date change when travelling before December 31st 2022.

With travel plans still subject to covid-related changes for the foreseeable future, that’s a handy policy to have. Jetstar have also extended credit vouchers for use until at least December 31st 2022, for flights until the end of 2023.

This week saw Jetstar kick off a special week-long sale on domestic flights just in time for the holidays. They’re offering more than 500,000 seats for as cheap as $29. There are offers on all 60 of their domestic routes, including a $29 flight from Melbourne’s Avalon Airport to Sydney.

International flights are also part of the week-long sale – you could all the way from Darwin to Singapore for just $109, which is an absolute steal. Flights to other international destinations such as Thailand, Fiji, Japan, and Hawaii are going for around $200. The sale is on now until Tuesday, December 21st at 11:59pm AEDT.
