A degustation dinner set to honour the humble schnitzel is set to arrive in Sydney.

Next month, Toxteth Hotel in Glebe will host an eight-course dining extravaganza wholly dedicated to the schnitty. Each course will offer a fresh take on the beloved Aussie pub staple.

However, this ain’t no $10 schnitty at your local kinda shebang. This is like, the most bougie schnitzel experience known to mankind. Check out the menu below:

Abalone schnitzel with seaweed and radishes
Eggplant schnitzel with crushed tomato, and mozzarella cheese
Dory schnitzel with salted baby capers, fondant potato, and lime mayo
Turkey schnitzel with pickled cabbage and apple sauce
Veal schnitzel with mushroom and sage butter, and mash potato
Wasabi and sesame crumbed chicken schnitzel with steamed rice
Kangaroo schnitzel with bush tomato compote and lemon myrtle
Dessert schnitzel with chocolate mousse, Anzac crumbs, and berries

This stellar lineup of dishes feels like it was plucked directly out of an episode of Chef’s Table.

We’re placing our bets on what the Dessert schnitzel is going to entail. Personally, I reckon that deep-fried ice cream is the dessert equivalent of a schnitty but I’m happy to debate it.

My only gripe with this menu is that there isn’t a hot chip in sight. No offence but “fondant potato” does not hold a candle to the glorious, intricate beer battered chip. Some things just do not need to be poshed up, they are fine the way that they are.

The Schnitfest is quite possibly the most reasonably priced degustation experience of all time, it will only set you back $50. If you’re the kind of guy that likes to pair their meal with a matching craft beer then, firstly, stay away from me, and secondly, you’ll be able to do just that for an extra $25. Toxteth has teamed up with Pirate Life Brewery to satiate all your ale-ments.
