Due to overwhelming demand, Chris Rock has added a further Melbourne show to the Australian leg of his Ego Death World Tour.

Fresh from being infamously slapped onstage at the Oscars by Will Smith, the comedian will be able to put some distance between himself and the Fresh Prince when he heads Down Under this August.

It will be Rock’s first tour of the country in five long years. Promoted by TEG Dainty, the Aussie leg begins in Melbourne on Wednesday, August 10th, and will make further stops in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Gold Coast (see full dates below).

And due to extra demand, he’ll now perform in Melbourne again on Thursday, August 11th. Tickets for the new show go on sale on Friday, April 8th at 12pm local time. Tickets to all other shows are on sale now.

“Ego Death World Tour 2022, all new material, introspective, very personal and very funny,” the veteran comic said when announcing the first dates for his tour on social media last month.

“It’s fantastic to announce that Chris Rock is bringing his Ego Death World Tour to Australia this August!” Paul Dainty, President and CEO of TEG Dainty, said. “He’s in a class of his own, and nothing beats witnessing his genius unfolding in real time, in a live arena.”

Rock last visited in Australia in 2017, where his stand-up received unanimously positive reviews. “Rock, right now, is unequivocally the world’s best stand-up and there’s simply no substitute for capturing this genius in the flesh,” said the Sydney Morning Herald at the time.

The Emmy winner is still at the top of his game, so expect tickets to be snapped up quickly. Ticket pre-sales start on Tuesday, March 15th at 2pm. General tickets then go on sale on Friday, March 18th at 10am.
