We could all do with some laughs and Chris Rock is providing them in the form of a “hot remix” of his Tamborine Netflix comedy special.
Chris Rock’s 2018 Netflix comedy special, Tamborine, was something of a high mark for him as it was critically acclaimed across the board and demonstrated to folks that he didn’t lose his comedic chops in the 10 or so years between comedy special releases.
With the world in a bit of a dour state and in dire need of some levity at the moment, Rock has decided to answer that call by re-releasing an extended cut of Tamborine after initially teasing the project back in December last year.
Dubbed Chris Rock: Total Blackout, The Tamborine Extended Cut and called a “hot remix” for some odd reason, this re-release will boast 27 minutes of previously unseen footage that was cut from Rock’s original special.
The new stuff will comprise of “never-before-seen jokes, interviews, and behind the scenes footage,” bringing the runtime to a smidge over 90 minutes.
In a trailer teasing this re-release, Rock boasts Total Blackout as “for the first time in history, a remixed version of a special.”
“It’s a Netflix special. Not a normal, not a routine. It’s a special.”

Good to know, Chris, but what exactly makes it so “hot?” Just wondering.
Anyway, as for when this extended cut of Tamborine will arrive, it’ll drop on Netflix on Tuesday, January 12th.
Hopefully this Tamborine Extended Cut is just an appetiser for more Chris Rock comedy content in 2021 because he’s still on the books for one more special with Netflix as part of that eye-opening $40 million dollar deal he inked with the streaming giant back in 2016.
