Light up the sails and be ready for some raucous laughter, The Sydney Opera House is bringing to us an entire Comedy Gala on its very steps to support the Bushfire Relief.

Australian Icon has just announced an incredible Comedy Gala on The Opera House Steps to help raise Money for Bushfire Relief.

The Sydney Opera sails will be lit tonight to show support for the communities affected by the bushfires and to acknowledge the bravery of the men and women fighting the fires across rural and regional Australia.

Sydney Opera House CEO Louise Herron said: “We are lighting the Opera House sails to show our collective support for everyone affected by these devastating fires and to express our deepest gratitude to the emergency services and volunteers for their incredible efforts and courage. As difficult circumstances continue, we want to send a message of hope and strength to the people of Australia.”

To help raise money for fire-affected communities, the Sydney Opera House and Live Nation have today announced ‘Comedy Steps Up for Bushfire Relief’ – an outdoor gala performance on the House steps and forecourt on Monday 16 March.

The night will feature major Australian artists and comedians including Arj BarkerCarl BarronUrzila CarlsonJoel CreaseyKitty FlanaganBecky LucasTim MinchinJulia Morris, Harry Shearer and more to be announced.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Wildlife Victoria and WIRES.

Since embarking on a decade of renewal at its 40th anniversary, the Sydney Opera House is now six years into a program of major upgrades to ensure this 20th-century icon continues to inspire 21st-century artists, audiences and visitors.
