There are not many dishes that have made me question my commitment to a plant-based diet quite like the Ms G’s Cheeseburger Spring Roll. I’ve never experienced unrequited love, but I imagine it provides the same pang as watching my friends pucker their lips around that crisp, golden, flaky, springer exterior.
If you’re jonesing for a fix of the cult dish, the mastermind behind it, Dan Hong, has shared an Instagram tutorial teaching you how to recreate the architectural triumph for yourself. The video features Dan in his home kitchen, armed with the sweetest sous chefs in the business. It’s fourteen minutes of pure joy, and you (might, depending on your culinary oevre) get yourself a piping hot dish out of it. Truly a win-win.
I’m going to take one for the team and attempt to execute a vegan version of this masterpiece. If it works out, perhaps I’ll take out Maggie Beer and become Australia’s next chef sweetheart. It probably won’t and you’ll never hear from me again.
