The Man Who Fell To Earth is a masterpiece of a film with an awful lot to say; about men, about the Earth, and lots of things in between”, says Watters.

“There are ideas in the film, about climate crises and corporate greed, that are more relevant now than they were when [Director] Nicholas Roeg set out to make it.”

“And now here we are. I think it’s high time to look at the world through Thomas Newton’s mismatched eyes all over again. Perhaps he’ll see something we’ve been missing.”

Later this year, Showtime has their own adaption of The Man Who Fell To Earth premiering on Showtime.

The series is being led by Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet and Hoihn Halvin and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris.

“You cannot replicate the magic of David Bowie,” says Lumet, speaking to EW. “You can’t hope to.”

Instead, the new series follows Ejiofor as a “entirely different character” that is “the same species that Bowie was in the film, but he’s not the same character – and he wasn’t the first one here.”

Expect the novel to hit stores and online, 25 October, 2022.
