David Harbour has dished out some insights on the forthcoming season of Stranger Things in a new interview promoting his new movie Black Widow.
Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in the hugely popular Netflix series, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect following season three’s cliffhanger which suggested the possible death of Hopper.
“This season is so enjoyable, it’s epic in a scope that we’ve never had. Enjoyable is a strange word: It wasn’t easy,” Harbour shared with USA Today.
Back in February last year, Netflix revealed in a teaser for the fourth season that Hopper was, in fact, still alive.
“It was a lot of cold nights, we’re out on locations in crazy snowy environments sometimes and in actual prisons (in Lithuania),” Harbour continued.
“And also even where Hopper is in his life, he’s in a dark, fragile, vulnerable place, to the point where he has a shaved head and he’s like a baby almost.”
Harbour added, “He’s discovering himself and what he is, and we also are going to see a lot of dark backstory from Hopper that we’ve only hinted at. It’s not ‘happy’ enjoyable, but enjoyable in terms of eating a hearty meal.”

The actor also spoke about the new season with Entertainment Tonight, where he revealed that a “very big” secret will come to light that he had to kept under wraps for five years.
“There’s one thing in it that plays very big in this season that I’ve known since the first frame of the first season,” he teased.
“Me and [series creators] the Duffers would sit around and speculate, ‘Oh, wouldn’t this be cool?’ the minute we started shooting.
“We never thought we’d even get a second season, and then we get to do it in this season. It’s so satisfying to have had an idea five years prior, and to go like, ‘Oh, this is a season when we’re gonna let out this secret that we were using just as a subtle thing to inform something.'”
“We’re gonna lay it out finally, and it’s really cool.”
