Deliveroo has announced that they will be taking 20 per cent off orders for more than 5,000 restaurants across Melbourne’s metropolitan area — that are only able to serve takeaway as stage-three lockdown are implemented.
There are a bunch of Melbourne favourites set to take part in the offer including, Tahina, Hawker Chan, Huxtaburger and Fishbowl.
Deliveroo has assured that they will be footing the cost of the discount — though restaurants will still be paying Deliveroo’s service fee. Delivery services like Uber Eats and Deliveroo traditionally take a cut of 30 to 35 per cent of each sale.
In addition to the profit cut, delivery services have had a ripple effect on all corners of the hospitality industry — from poor customer experiences, and a drop in food quality. Perhaps you could use your hour of essential exercise to walk to your restaurant of choice and support a local business. If you’re ordering like, McDonald’s then maybe you get a free delivery pass? I don’t know? Is that how defeating capitalism works? pinning two conglomerates against eachother until they bleed dry?
The offer is available Monday to Thursday for the next two weeks on all orders of $30 and more. Keep ya eyes peeled for the 20 per cent off tag when scrolling through the Deliveroo app.
In other delivery news, booze legends Jimmy Brings have announced that they will be giving one lucky pisshead the chance to score six months worth of free alcohol (to the value of $2,000).
To enter the competition, all you need to do is pass the Jimmy Brings Vibe Check by posting a photo of you straight vibin’ with Jimmy Brings. You can find all the relevant information here.
