Controversy has hit Swedish DJ duo Dada Life today, as one of the member’s laptops has been stolen, with the people responsible threatening to release unfinished music that was on the hard drive.

A Facebook page appeared on Monday December 15 called ‘Dada Death’. The page spiked in popularity when it started tagging Dada Life in posts, claiming it had the laptop that the artists had recently lost.

The situation heated up when the page posted a photo of the stolen laptop with the caption, “You think we’re joking about having the laptop you lost… what’s this then? We listened to your unreleased tracks. They were all shit, so we made a better version… release coming soon”. It then followed this up with a link to an empty SoundCloud page.

Dada Life have made it clear that they wish for the laptop be returned and the music to stay unreleased, but have said they “have been told not to say too much at this point in public, but thanks for all the support”.

Dada Life are one of the most popular DJ acts in Sweden, with their second full-length album The Rules Of Dada quickly reaching number one on the iTunes Dance Charts in 2012. They debuted a festival in San Bernardino in 2014 called Dada Land: The Voyage, which saw over 10,000 punters attend.
