Tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen and pour yourself a cup of ANTICIPATION because the Dolly Parton musical is coming to Australia. The stage version of 9 to 5 is set to make its Australian debut in April 2020 at Sydney Lyric Theatre.
The musical is penned to an entire score of Dolly Parton songs, so it’s pretty much an hour and a bit of experiencing pure heaven. It follows the story of three workmates — Doralee, Violet and Judy who scheme to enact revenge on their misogynist boss. The OG film starred Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Fonda and is truly just, a real good time.
The stage show made its Broadway debut in 2009. It was later reworked for London’s West End earlier this year and was an enormous success. I mean, that’s hardly shocking — between Dolly, Mason Ramsey and Lil Nas X, yeehaw has well and truly dominated pop culture in the good year 2019.
